Our Saviour Jesus has some very beautiful names here are some of them:

Almighty One – NKJV Rev 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Author of Life – NKJV Joh 1:3 Every thing was by his hand; and without him, was not any thing whatever that existed.

Beginning – Col 1:18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the pre-eminence.

Cornerstone – NKJV 1Pe 2:6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, “BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A CHIEF CORNERSTONE, ELECT, PRECIOUS, AND HE WHO BELIEVES ON HIM WILL BY NO MEANS BE PUT TO SHAME.”

Creator of all the earth – NKJV Isa 40:28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.

Faithfull and True – NKJV Rev 19:11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.

Holy – NKJV Isa 6:3 And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!”

Great Shepherd of the sheep – NKJV Heb 13:20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

It is very important for us as men to be in our relationships with an open heart. To sincerely hear from our Father what we can do to change the way we do things to know His heart. We sometimes judge our current situation against others.

Love your Wife

It is very important for us as men to be in our relationships/marriage with an open heart. To sincerely hear from our Father what we can do to change the way we do things to know His heart. We sometimes judge our current situation against others.

We judge our standard of marriage against our friends and family, the neighbour across the street, couples in the church, our parents and even the media. However great our marriage or relationship may be, it is often far from the standard that God requires from us. We can always have an open heart to look where we can love more, give more and lead as gracious men in our marriage.

We as men tend to focus on our calling, where we want in live, where we are going, what we want to do, hunting down our dreams leaving our spouses to trail behind us in the process, placing them second to this. It is important to know that one day our Father will hold us accountable for our spouses. Do we even know what their calling is, what their dreams are, or what they long for?

In all of this, we need to call on the Holy Spirit to cut away all the things that corrupt our hearts, and the way we treat our wives. How do we live out our lives in our marriage. Heb 4:12 says that the Word is living and active and cuts between bone and marrow. We need to open our hearts and overflow with God’s Word, be saturated by the Word, in order to be the men that God wants us to be. The Word of God is a discerner of our thoughts and the intents of our hearts. Let us continuously be open to the working of the Father in our lives.

It is important to note the progress into the kingdom. Col 3 speaks about how we should focus on Christ, and not the flesh, that we’ve died to this world and Jesus has set us free. Right after the opening paragraph in chapter 3, we get a heading saying “Character of a new man” (v12-17) explaining to us what we should be like to others, to ourselves, and especially our spouse in marriage. It is only by the grace of God that we can ever reach this standard. The next paragraph gives us a good understanding of what a Christian home/marriage should be like. We as men should note Col 3:19 stating that we should love our wives and NOT be BITTER towards them. Our marriages can overflow with life and love when we draw from our Father and not from our own power.

Eph 5:25-27. This is what God requires of us. This is His standard for our marriages.

Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,

Eph 5:26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,

Eph 5:27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

We must love our wives as Christ loved the church giving His life for her. This is a very strong statement, the standard we are to set. We must speak life over our wives every day, and verse 27 gives the conclusion on why we do this. We do this in order to present our wives spotless and without wrinkle, that she should be holy and without blemish. It is our duty to fight for our wives, to look after them, to treat them with respect and in a way where they will continually grow.

Do not ever judge your current relationship by the standard of the world. Let us rather go to God’s Word and ask Him to reveal His perfect plan and pattern to us.

It is important for us to fight for our wife’s and not with them. In marriage and relationships it is easy to neglect that. When we do not protect our wife’s and fight with them we almost kick them out of the nest and let them know that they have to fend for themselves. For the lack of a better example it is like a mother hen kicking out the little ones. We need to draw our spouses into our protection, keep them safe, guard them.

As in Heaven

This world is but a shadow of what is to come. We pray as in Heaven, but do we understand? Do we long for our Fathers presence?

What do we hunger after? To be more gifted? To be more loved? Or do we search out God’s heart, do we die to self and seek to fulfil the Fathers mission?

As it is in Heaven is my dream, I hunger for it.

As I call Your name

and hunger for Your love

Hunger for your presence

I jump and dance

I scream and shout

my King is alive

my Father reigns

He is almighty

All Powerful

unable to learn

unable to make mistakes

My Father is love

Joy is in His house, forever and ever

Around His throne is abundant joy

if fact

When He describes His kingdom

He says:

Righteousness

Peace

and JOY!

gird yourself

God reigns

with power and might

Rest is to be found in Him

He is the absolute of knowledge

He is the absolute of power

He is LOVE

I sing Father

I rejoice in Your holiness

I bathe in Your mercy

You are my rock

You are the only foundation

I praise You

I worship You

Father God Almighty

Psa 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.

The fear of God, the beginning of wisdom…

Psa 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.

What does the scripture mean, in the context of the fear of God being the beginning of wisdom?

It is the reverential fear of God. This is fear that is an honourable respectful fear, birthed from an understanding of who God is, the magnitude of His being, being all powerful, transcendent, far above our understanding. It is the fear of God in knowing that He possesses all knowledge, having limitless understanding, incapable of learning anything as he is all knowing, and incapable of making a mistake because of Him being absolute perfection. Knowing that God does not change, and in Him there is no shadow of turning, no varying degrees, as He is simply and perfectly God. God who is the fulness and expession of absolute love.

This fear of God, in His Word is not an earthly, demonic oppressive fear that would lead to bondage, turmoil and confusion, but it is a fear that is birthed through a spiritual understanding of God.

Knowing that God is wisdom itself, and knowing that in and through God is life, as He is the author of life, we have an understanding that God knows what is best. Because all life originates from God, and Him being the sustainer of life, He has given us His spoken Word through the Bible. It is a love letter, an understanding of His heart, an instruction manual to find the fullness of life as this is His desire for us, not leading us into bondage but freedom.

So in fearing God, it results in the beginning of wisdom. What is part of wisdom? Honouring God’s Word based of the knowledge of who and what He is. What does wisdom do? It protects, preserves, and gives life.

The more we understand God, the more we become like Him. The more we understand God’s Word, and receive it, the more we become like God in nature. The things that grieve God’s heart begin to grieve ours. The things that God loves, we begin to love. The things that offend God, offend us, because God cannot entertain and accept sin. Because He is the author of life and is life itself, we long to say with full conviction and understanding that ‘ I have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me’.

The fear of God leads to obeying His Word, and obeying His Word is wisdom.

Because God is wisdom, if we fear Him and long to obey Him, in obeying Him, it leads to wisdom, and wisdom is to become like God. Wisdom that is a spiritual wisdom, flowing from the presence and understanding of who He is. A wisdom that the world does not understand.

We will not fear God if we do not know Him. If we do not know Him, we will not become like Him. If we do not become like Him, we will not find life, as He is the fullness of life.

Pro 2:1 My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you,

Pro 2:2 So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding;

Pro 2:3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding,

Pro 2:4 If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures;

Pro 2:5 Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God.

Pro 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;

Pro 2:7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;

Pro 2:8 He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints.

Pro 2:9 Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path.

Pro 2:10 When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,

Pro 2:11 Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you,

Pro 2:12 To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things,

Pro 2:13 From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness;

Pro 2:14 Who rejoice in doing evil, And delight in the perversity of the wicked;

Pro 2:15 Whose ways are crooked, And who are devious in their paths;

Pro 2:16 To deliver you from the immoral woman, From the seductress who flatters with her words,

Pro 2:17 Who forsakes the companion of her youth, And forgets the covenant of her God.

Pro 2:18 For her house leads down to death, And her paths to the dead;

Pro 2:19 None who go to her return, Nor do they regain the paths of life—

Pro 2:20 So you may walk in the way of goodness, And keep to the paths of righteousness.

Pro 2:21 For the upright will dwell in the land, And the blameless will remain in it;

Pro 2:22 But the wicked will be cut off from the earth, And the unfaithful will be uprooted from it.

To soak in God’s presence is to draw from God and rest in Him. To allow His presence to wash over us, to fill us, restore and council us.

Definition ’soak’: –verb (used without object): to penetrate or become known to the mind or feelings

-Verb phrase: soak up: to absorb with one’s mind or senses; take in.

How would one soak in God’s presence?
To soak in God’s presence is to draw from God and rest in Him. To allow His presence to wash over us, to fill us, restore and council us. Because God is all powerful, all merciful, gracious, fully loving and compassionate, His presence is all we need to effectively live this life, and all life comes from Him.

Joh 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

This is part of the reason to just wait in God’s presence. That we may meditate of Him and wait on Him to commune with us in a deeper way without the distractions of life.

One very effective way of ’soaking’ in God’s presence is to worship Him from the heart through worship music. There is music called ’soaking’ music that is a wonderful resource, especially written to facilitate these times with God – to be able to switch off to everything and just listen to what God says, and what He wants to minister through this music. In these times, you do nothing, but just wait and meditate on God. God speaks in countless ways. This is just one way of meeting with God intimately, and in these times, He speaks to our hearts the deep things of the Spirit, as we connect our spirit with His Spirit.

Psa 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
Psa 46:11 The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

At times we need to come before God, without any structure, no agenda or program, lengthy prayer list or anything, and just wait on God. Allow God to speak to us.

Psa 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;
Psa 139:24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

It is humbling just to let go before God and allow Him to minister to us in whichever way He wants to.

Isa 57:15 For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

God teaches us things and shows us what He wants us to see when we open our hearts to Him and just listen. We often do all the talking, but the Holy Spirit wants to minister to us when we just be still in His presence.

Job 36:22 “Behold, God is exalted by His power; Who teaches like Him?
Job 36:23 Who has assigned Him His way, Or who has said, ‘You have done wrong’?
Job 36:24 “Remember to magnify His work, Of which men have sung.
Job 36:25 Everyone has seen it; Man looks on it from afar.
Job 36:26 “Behold, God is great, and we do not know Him; Nor can the number of His years be discovered.

Intimacy with God does not come cheaply. While one should never work or strive or perform in any way to get to know God, rather, it is important to seek God’s face through a love relationship, learning to love His presence.

Isa 50:4 “The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He awakens me morning by morning, He awakens my ear to hear as the learned.

God will prepare our hearts and impart wisdom for the day when we meet with Him. In this, we will have the grace to love people, comfort and council the weary because of what God has imparted to us.

Let us soak in the presence of God, until we are so saturated that we cannot help spill over what we have received to others. We cannot give when we have a deficit because that will lead to burnout.

Soaking in God’s presence is such an amazing thing! It is one of many ways in meeting intimately with God.
